Soil Degradation Caused By The Fashion Industry

Soil is an essential element of our ecosystem. We need healthy soil to produce food and to absorb carbon dioxide. Large-scale degradation of soils worldwide is one of the major environmental problems facing our planet. It poses a major threat to global food security and contributes to global warming.

What We Can Do?
- Choose soil-friendly fiber.

Destruction Of Rainforest Ecology

Every year, thousands of hectares of endangered and ancient forests are cleared and replaced by plantations of trees used to manufacture wood-based fabrics such as rayon, viscose and modal.

What can we do?
- Choose Lyocell/Tencel® instead of rayon, modal or viscose.

HOW OROMEN DOES IT

Lyocell is a rayon manufacturing process that is more environmentally friendly than modal and viscose. Lyocell is manufactured in a closed-loop system, recycling nearly all chemicals used. Unlike rayon, which is made through some of the more common viscose processes, Lyocell production does not use carbon disulfide, which is toxic to workers and the environment.

OROMEN uses lyocell fiber and natural linen blended to make shirts. These shirts are completely naturally biodegradable, soft, and comfortable, and do not irritate the skin. The fabric brings a unique drape and is the most ideal fabric we have discovered in our experience in making shirts.
