OUR FABRIC STORY

It all starts with research and development of fabrics and fibers, and our team is dedicated to exploring natural, eco-friendly fabrics and constantly innovating and incorporating them, culminating in three fabrics that have been crafted into our favorite Aloha Shirts.

During the market research stage, we bought some men's printed shirts from some fast fashion websites, but to our disappointment, all the shirts we bought were made of polyester fiber, whether it was the plastic texture or the strong chemical smell. It makes us full of regrets about printed shirts. In our impression, Aloha shirts represent an optimistic attitude towards life and spirit, rather than these disposable fast fashion products that can only go through one cycle in the washing machine.

So we decided to use our expertise and love to create Aloha shirts with comfortable, skin-friendly fabrics. But we realize that not everything can be perfect. Due to strict quality requirements and production scale limitations, we can only produce in small batches to ensure that each shirt is impeccable. If you find our website, please believe that we will not let you down.

All our shirts are made from cotton, natural linen, and Tencel™ fabrics and do not contain any chemical synthetic fibers. Here is an overview of the materials that make up all the shirts we offer:

Cotton

Sustainability:

Cotton is a natural renewable resource and biodegradable. Cotton degrades quickly in terrestrial and water environments and will not bring the increasingly serious problem of microplastic pollution to the Earth.

Performance

Cotton is a soft, breathable natural fiber that is skin-friendly and non-irritating. It is also very hygroscopic, which means it can absorb large amounts of moisture (water, sweat, etc.) and transfer it to the air without making you feel uncomfortable.

Appearance:

The fabric is mainly plain weave and twill weave, using 80 yarn counts, with a delicate and smooth texture, soft and comfortable.

Tencel™

Sustainability:

Tencel™ is made from wood fiber. The fibers originate from the renewable raw material wood, created by photosynthesis. The certified biobased fibers are manufactured using an environmentally responsible production process. The fibers are certified as compostable and biodegradable, and thus can fully revert to nature.

Performance

Tencel™ has a drapey, lustrous, and silky appearance well-suited to Hawaiian shirts.
It offers all the visual appeal of silk without the drawbacks: it is wrinkle-resistant, breathable, soft, and machine-washable. It's pretty much a dream come true!

Appearance:

Tencel™ will have a light slub appearance. It has a high degree of coloration, high definition of patterns, and bright colors when printed on fabrics.

Natural Linen

Sustainability:

Linen comes from the natural linen plant and is biodegradable. It requires almost no water or pesticides in the production process, requires only sunlight and rain to grow, and can even absorb carbon dioxide from the atmosphere.

Performance

Linen is breathable and naturally antibacterial, making it the most skin-friendly fabric. It also has anti-wrinkle and anti-friction properties, making it a boon for long-distance travelers and outdoor enthusiasts.

Appearance:

The oldest known fabric, linen has an open, porous weave and an earthy, relaxed appeal. It has a unique retro and period feel.

On Why We Mix Cotton, Linen, And Tencel™

Innovation can be a challenging process. One solution to save time is to use 100% cotton, 100% linen, or 100% Tencel™ individually, instead of combining them in various proportions. However, each fabric type has its drawbacks: pure cotton wrinkles easily shrink and feel stiff. Linen fabric feels coarse and requires multiple washes to soften the rough fibers. On the other hand, Tencel™ fabric is expensive. We aim to offer you an Aloha shirt that is gentle, cozy, flowing, resistant to creases, and within a reasonable price range. At the same time, it is a perfect fabric that uses entirely natural fibers and is completely sustainable and biodegradable.

For example, we all know that the advantage of a pure cotton shirt is that it is skin-friendly and breathable, but it is really easy to wrinkle, and it will inevitably shrink and become hard after many washes... We mixed it during the improvement process Made of 50% Tencel™, its wrinkle resistance and softness are unparalleled, and it perfectly combines all the advantages of pure cotton fabrics.

Our dream came true – a soft, breathable shirt that doesn’t wrinkle!

At the end of the story, we realized that the goal of sustainable development for any clothing brand did not exist from the beginning. Whether it chooses chemical synthetic fibers or natural fibers, it will have an impact on the environment, but we still insist on choosing Use natural fibers because the clothes they produce are of good quality and can degrade when recycled. Natural fibers are far more environmentally friendly than chemical synthetic fibers. We approach our material choices and other sustainability efforts with humility, figuring out how to reduce our negative impact, even if we never do it to perfection.

We want our shirts to not only make you look good but also make you feel good about your contribution to reducing environmental impact. We hope that when you wear an Oromen aloha shirt, you wear it with pride, knowing that you are part of a larger story – a story of sustainability, quality, and love for our planet.
