Design Pattern:
Tiki culture is an art, music and entertainment movement originating in the United States, influenced by Polynesian, Melanesian and Micronesian cultures. Inspired by Oceanian art, cultures influencing Tiki culture include Australia, Melanesia, Micronesia, Polynesia, the Caribbean islands and Hawaii. The name originates from the Maori word tiki, meaning the first humans, usually presented as pendants and important taonga (heitiki). Heitiki are often used as lucky charms and have been commercialized by Europeans, hence the name tiki culture. Although spanning over ten thousand miles and encompassing many unrelated cultures, religions and languages, Tiki aesthetics have merged into a “pan-Pacific cultural fantasy” and “colonial nostalgia.”
